WINE DESCRIPTION The Patrimo is an extraordinary wine “born by chance” from a historic vineyard discovered in the heart of Irpinia: atypical and unique merlot thanks to the contribution of our territory. The only interpretation of an international variety proposed by the Feudi di San Gregorio. The origin of the Merlot in Irpinia is probably to be traced back to the period of reclamation operated by Venetian experts in the 30s. The vineyard is followed with the utmost care: little invasive interventions on the vineyard but accurate pruning, sprouts chosen carefully until the strict selection of the grapes in harvest (second decade of September, typically). It is an ‘atypical’ Merlot because it is a child of our territory: continuous temperature changes between day and night (from 35 ° to 10 ° C) and between the seasons, high rainfall and extreme ventilation on the hill exposed to the sun.The color is ruby red, on the nose highlights aromas of jam of small red and black fruits, peel of cedar, vanilla sugar and biscuits. The tannins are sweet, fine and soft, the total balance goes towards harmony. The finish is a long persistence of sensations of fruit, plum and black cherries, spices and roasting. Extraordinary even alone, it combines well with roasted or stewed red meats, and large cheeses.
