CASTELLO DI AMA VIGNETO LA CASUCCIA 1997

130.00 IVA inclusa

The La Casuccia vineyard occupies an area of 12.58 hectares: about 6 ha
implanted in 1978 while the rest replanted in 2007 at a density of
5300 plants / ha. The altitude is between 480 and 526 meters s.l.m. of the
vineyards of Adine. The terrain is fairly uniform throughout the area, with one
dominant argillo-calcareous. The forms of breeding are the espalier
vertical with simple Guyot cut in 8.04 ha and the Open Lira in 4.54 ha.
The vineyard is divided into 17 parcels planted with traditional varieties
provided for by the production disciplinary. On a parcel it is worth noting the
presence of the Merlot variety. This wine is produced only in the
very large “millesimes” in limited quantities. The first edition was
bottled in 1985.

CLIMATE AND VINTAGE
The first three months of the year were slightly rainy and with temperatures in the seasonal average. Month
in April there was a sudden drop in temperature which caused a partial
reduction of production in the lower areas. May started with a pretty climate
rainy and dangerous from a health point of view but the subsequent entry of the summer was
characterized by a great drought and high temperatures. Also the months of July and August are
really hot and dry. The harvest began with the expected advance of around 15-20
days.
Great vintage for quality but with a modest production.

VINIFICATION AND AGING
The grape harvest was carried out on 23 September for Merlot and 3 October for
Sangiovese obtaining 130 Q.li. The selected grapes have been crushed and de-stemmed. The fermentation is
developed regularly at temperatures between 30 and 33 ° and with successive pumping at a steady pace
throughout the fermentation period. The maceration lasted for 25 days. After the drawing off of
Hl. 70 malolactic fermentation was carried out using a large percentage of barriques.
After the assembly, the wine is passed entirely in barriques of Allier for 80% new, for approx
14 months. The bottling was held on May 13, 1999 obtaining 8,203 Bordeaux and 400
magnum.

TASTING NOTES
Ruby red color; on the nose, it manages to combine in a happy way the typical elegance with one
portentous complexity. Refined tannins, softness and decisive character distinguish it on the palate
